A hint of Majorelle N10
Posted on 30th July 2015
A client with Mediterranean heritage and a longing to bring light and colour into his North London garden. We took inspiration from a recent visit to Jardin Majorelle in Marrakech using intense, bold colours from the garden as accents, highlighting features and focal points and providing a dynamic contrast to a backdrop of lush planting, warm natural cedar and dark grey basalt surfaces.
It was important that the garden had lots of space to entertain for adults and for a little person to play so we included a large area of cedar deck as a flexible void within the space. A rill of water divided the garden creating a level change and a distinctive gravel garden room with places to sit amongst the plants. On the rear boundary an unattractive outbuilding housing storage and the gym was given a face lift with a bespoke cedar screen.
