Courtyard Garden CT4

Posted on 20th June 2013

The brief from the client was to re-design the walled garden of their barn conversion reducing the size of their existing swimming pool by two thirds.

The concept for the design was inspired by the beautiful flint and clay brick walls that enclose the garden providing a feeling of seclusion. We wanted to enhance this feeling of enclosure providing a range of different areas within the garden that had an intimate courtyard feel to them.  These included a studio with cedar deck terrace, a sunken dining area with water rill and cascading water wall, a new decked area around the swimming pool and some raised vegetable beds.

Planting was low maintenance with blocks of ornamental grasses and evergreen shrubs punctuated with cubes of Yew.
