The Burgs Garden SY3

Posted on 20th June 2013

This rural garden backed onto open countryside, but high hedges on the rear boundary meant the garden was disconnected from it’s surroundings.  We designed in a raised ha ha feature with a wildflower meadow bank to open up the garden and borrow the landscape beyond.  We also gave the client sinuous curves of hard landscaping incorporating a new patio, a sunny cedar deck and a pavilion from which to enjoy the evening sun.  Other features included a cascading split-level pond with dry stone walls, a bubbling copper water bowl and a fire pit concealed within a stone table.  Flanking a good sized lawn were generous areas of soft planting made up of trees, shrubs and perennials, punctuated with seasonal bulbs.
